Job Description
Job Scope:
The Data Centre Installation Supervisor will be required to assist the Project Engineer in supervising a team / teams for the installation of cables and equipment. He will also assist onsite for all physical installs, troubleshooting, servers & networking equipment and the installation and laying of associated cabling e.g. Copper and Fiber patch cords/ cables where and when needed. The candidate must be able to carry and install equipment of a minimum of 20 kg independently and able to work closely with the teams. The candidate must be willing to work in an ever-changing environment moving from a Construction Site to a Data Centre.
Responsibilities:
Supervisory
. Assist Project Engineer for QA/QC.
. Assist Project Engineer in ensuring that the schedule is met in a timely manner.
. Assist with and coordinate any Logistics requirements to fulfill the project tasks.
. To plan and instruct daily team task in line with the schedule.
. To assist the project engineer in ensuring all documentation covering progress and completion is up to date and submitted as required.
· Interface with customers, clients, and technical staff as needed.
· Supervise the teams to ensure a clean and safe work environment in accordance with site rules and guidelines.
. To cover Project Engineer duties in his absence.
Technical
· Server and Network Equipment unpacking, installation, basic troubleshooting (Network MUX, Switches & Routers, Servers & Storage, PDUs, NICs, etc.)
· Network and Servers installation & maintenance (rack & stack, cabling, parts replacement, etc.)
· Inventory of network and server equipment - Asset Management and Data Collection. Capture critical device information such as asset tag, serial numbers, MAC addresses and related information.
· Plan to ensure proper cable management and power redundancy practices are in use.
· Self-perform basic server troubleshooting such as power and link light verification.
. Any other task given by Project Manager / Project Engineer.
Essentials:
· Experience within a data center environment and basic tasks such as rack & stack, patching, hardware install, 2 post vs 4 post racks, U-counts etc.
· Familiar with network cabling such as types of fiber and copper. (SMF, MMF, , MPO, MTP, CAT6A,)
· Familiar with basic server hardware and components (CPU, memory, storage, NICs, etc.)
· Basic understanding of datacenter air flow, heat management, and power redundancy practices
· Able to use basic hand tools. Drills and screwdriver
· Regularly lift equipment weighing up to 20kg or more.
· Detail oriented and organized
· Excellent documentation skills
· Ability to read and comprehend rack elevations, patching matrices, network topologies
· Ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner through independent planning, prioritization and time management
· Able to communicate effectively with all levels of stake holders
Qualifications:
· Diploma/Higher Nitec in Information Technology or equivalent professional experiences.
· Minimum 3-5 years of datacenter or similar technical experience
· Computer and Network related certification (CCNA, Network +, A+) is an added advantage.
· Understanding of types of networks and server hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, KVMs, JBOD's etc.
· Experience in operating systems installations: Microsoft Windows Server, Linux distributions, & VMWare
Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 24 months
Salary: $4,500.00 - $6,000.00 per month
