Are you passionate about health literacy and improving the health and well-being of multicultural communities in Northern Sydney? The Multicultural Health Service in the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) is seeking a motivated and passionate Health Education Officer for the part-time, temporary position of Project Officer (Community Partnerships and Health Literacy). You will be working in partnership with NSLHD staff, community leaders, consumers, and carers from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to improve the health literacy of consumers accessing NSLHD services.

Where you'll be working

This position will be based at Cremorne Community Health Centre, and work alongside a supportive and vibrant Multicultural Health Service team. The Project Officer will be required to travel to attend events and meetings at community venues in the NSLHD.

The purpose of the position is to establish and maintain partnerships with consumers and carers from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds in the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) to improve the health literacy of consumers accessing Primary and Community Health (PACH) Services.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

• Tertiary qualifications in health, health communications, social marketing or social sciences and demonstrated work experience.

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the health needs of CALD communities, including refugee communities and small, emerging communities, health literacy and consumer engagement including current policies and frameworks.

• Demonstrated high level written communication skills including the ability to write in plain language for a range of mediums including reports, print, web and social media, experience in resource development and highly developed computer skills.
