The role
The Catchment Officer will support the implementation of Council’s Catchment Management Programs, Coastal Management Programs and the Biodiversity Framework. Working closely with stakeholder groups, the Catchment Officer will provide specialist advice, build capacity, source funding, and create opportunities for partnerships to address catchment challenges in our region. From project development and strategic planning to on-ground activities and assessments, this position will be integral in delivering project outcomes for riparian and wetland restoration, acid sulfate soil mitigation, biodiversity conservation and water quality improvement.
What you'll bring
- Degree level qualifications in Natural Resource Management (NRM), Environmental Science or equivalent field.
- Demonstrated experience in natural resource management, urban and rural water quality management and biodiversity conservation.
- Working knowledge of local catchment, estuary management, WSUD and NRM issues.
- A proven capacity for community engagement and customer service through development and implementation of engagement activities, project promotion and communications.
- Proven project management and time management skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrated commitment to team and program development.

Salary: Salary range is $84,800 - $92,340 p.a. plus superannuation (subject to skills and experience).
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
